House Finch Nest, 4/8/08 (Mother Bird Tending to the Nest)

The house finches nested in exactly the same place as last year! Three of the eggs have hatched; I set up the webcam for this

Finches have come to nest at my porch’s birdhouse for three years now–i call them my wild house pets. They are so fierce in defending the nest against scrub jays. The mom and dad are so attentive and energetic throughout the days of building the nest to hatching to fledging-it’s amazing to see them going about their ‘wild’ life so closeup. To hear their songs is a real delight!
