Almost full grown hand fed baby finches, they are all sweet and very tame They mostly wait thier turn but a few cut in line 6 demanding, noisy baby zebra finches being hand fed . mother finch died , the father was still feeding them but not sitting on them , they got real cold , so it was time to pull them and put them in a nice warm brooder and start hand feeding, they all have grown quite a bit and becoming quite a handful.

6 baby hand fed zebra finches , all very tame and sweet , still eating baby formula but all are pecking at millet now. they are starting to fly and usually right into trouble. six out all at once can become quite a hand full but it let them all out to shoot this video, usually I only have 2 or 3 out at a time except when feeding.

I rescued 4 baby house finches from my front porch b/c I hadnt seen the mom around the nest in days….?

Posted by Filed Under Finch Bird House with 4 Comments

they had a nest on top of my wind chim and the mom had been flying back and forth constantly, then I didnt see her for a couple days and the babys were looking dehydrated its been in the 90′s here, and they wernt making any noise, so I got worried and my mom talked me into saving them so I have 4 baby finches in a bird cage- they have all their feathers and can fly just not well their feathers need to grow out more so they have control of their flight. I took them outside today (put the cage on the porch) while I was watering my flowers, 2 adult finches came down and were looking in the cage and landed on the cage now I am thinking those might be the parents and I have had them for 2 full days I dont know weather I should put the nest back up and put the birds in there or if its too late and I need to keep them I heard it was a myth that the mama bird will reject the babies after human touch but I dont know – and since I pulled the nest down with them – will the parents go back to it

What kind of bird? Normal to re-use an "old" nest?

Posted by Filed Under Finch Bird House with 3 Comments

we have a bird that built a nest on the "roof" of our bedroom window. i am trying to figure out what kind of bird that it might be. i did some research and i believe that it might be a house finch. the babies have now left the nest. i noticed yesterday that ANOTHER bird has now made a nest in the old one. is this a normal thing? or could it be the same female bird laying more eggs? my daughter (4yrs) loves checking in on the birds. i wanted to make sure that this wont make the mother bird leave the eggs. we stay at a fair distance away from the window. she is excited the fact that we have more baby birds to watch. i know these are silly question but i do not know anything about birds. thanks for all the answers in advance!

heres a picture of the new bird
